FSPCA Preventive Controls for Human Food

The FDA-recognized standardized curriculum developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance. Completing this course is the pathway to qualifying as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) under FSMA's Preventive Controls rule for human food.

Who This Is For

Anyone at a facility subject to the FDA's Preventive Controls for Human Food rule (21 CFR Part 117). If your facility manufactures, processes, packs, or holds human food and is covered by FSMA, you need a designated PCQI — and this course is how they qualify.

What's Covered

Hazard analysis and risk-based preventive controls, monitoring and corrective action procedures, verification and validation, recall planning, supply chain program controls, and how to write and maintain your facility's Food Safety Plan under FSMA.

Format & Completion

2.5-day instructor-led course. Available in-person, virtually, and through FSPCA-authorized training organizations. Certificate of completion provided by FSPCA. Completing this course qualifies you as a PCQI.

FSPCA Preventive Controls for Animal Food

For facilities that manufacture, process, pack, or hold animal food under FSMA. This FSPCA-standardized course covers the Preventive Controls rule for animal food and qualifies participants as PCQIs under 21 CFR Part 507.

Required for facilities subject to FSMA's Preventive Controls for Animal Food rule (21 CFR Part 507). If your facility produces pet food, livestock feed, or any other animal food covered by this rule, you need a designated PCQI trained in this specific curriculum.
